Shopping in Salzburg
Linzergasse
If you would like to do a little shopping and take a leisurely stroll through the historic streets during your stay with us in Salzburg, pay a visit to Linzergasse in the Neustadt district. It has everything your heart could desire: cafés and restaurants, exquisite boutiques and shoe shops. In Linzergasse, you can still shop without the usual stress and bustle of a large shopping centre. The local music shop is particularly worth a visit, with a huge yet carefully chosen selection – you will often find pieces here that no other shop within several hundred kilometres stocks.
Linzergasse is also home to a rather traditional shop selling souvenirs such as gingerbread and candles, as well as an excellent stationery shop.
From your accommodation, you can reach this historic street in just a few minutes by car. For an even more relaxed shopping trip, simply take the convenient bus between our hotel and Linzergasse. In Roman times, the lane was the main route between Salzburg, Linz and Vienna. Many of the houses have stood here for several centuries and give Linzergasse its unique, old-world flair. If you come here to shop, be sure to visit the Engel-Apotheke, a pharmacy dating from 1809, where the famous poet Georg Trakl once worked as an assistant. After shopping, the cosy Café Habakuk is the perfect place for a short break.
If you then fancy a short excursion into history, be sure to visit St Sebastian’s Church and its cemetery. Many members of Salzburg’s famous Mozart family of musicians are buried here, as is the famous physician Paracelsus, who incidentally lived in Linzergasse from 1540 to 1541. Our reception team will of course be happy to give you detailed directions and a city map, so that your shopping trip is as stress-free as you would like.
