E-charging stations
Our guests have the following charging options available for a fee at the Grünes Hotel zur Post: 1 x Type 2 wallbox with cable 11 kW 32A 7 x Type 2 with cable or plug 9 kW 32A 2 x CEE/32A/5-pin with mobile charger – Type 2 11 kW 32A 3 x Schuko 16A.
Part of the energy comes from our own three photovoltaic systems (17.00 kWp, 10.25 kWp and 3.6 kWp – total output 30.85 kWp). The rest of the energy we buy is certified green electricity. Links to help you charge your electric car:
Photovoltaic systems
Our 3 PV systems with a total output of 31 kWp produce between 25,000 and 30,000 kWh of clean solar energy annually. This covers a large part of our electricity needs directly on site.
Since 2024, the Grünes Hotel zur Post supports the Eroret Preparatory School in Loodoriak, Kenya, with financial contributions. The money is used to plant trees – including fruit trees that provide food for the children. Surplus fruits are sold at markets to generate additional income. The trees also protect against environmental influences such as wind and flooding.
We personally travelled to Kenya to meet the project, John, Esther, and the students. An inspiring journey into life in the bush – a place of future and perspective.

about our green initiatives
Breakfast with 100% organic food
Organic food is at the heart of our sustainable management and of a healthy lifestyle! And our guests should be able to eat healthily, sustainably and organically, as well as gluten-free and vegan. You can find more information on our organic breakfast page.
Water-saving taps
Older washbasin taps use 15.2 litres of water per minute. By fitting water-saving inserts, we have reduced this to 7.2 litres per minute, and in the showers water consumption has dropped from 14 to 9 litres. With this flow rate and the right shower heads, there is no noticeable loss of comfort. Total savings of approx. 775 m³ of water and approx. 30,000 kWh of energy for heating water add up to 8,500 kg of CO2 saved.
LED lighting
In order to keep our electricity and energy consumption low, we exclusively use LED lighting and energy-saving lamps for illumination.
Towels made of organic cotton
Our towels and bathroom mats are made from 100% organic cotton. No toxic or synthetic materials are used in the production.
Waste treatment
We adhere to the motto “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. The topic of “waste” begins with us already at waste avoidance. Organic foods are purchased in bulk, and as much as possible, PVC packaging is avoided at the breakfast buffet. The resulting waste is carefully sorted and disposed of properly.
Eco-friendly toiletries
Our shower gel and soap come from MARíAS® in Salzburg (a brand of Pieper Biokosmetik Manufaktur GmbH). All products carry the certified organic cosmetics seal from AUSTRIA BIO GARANTIE.
Bicycle and e-bike hire
With us, you can borrow bikes for free, as long as supplies last. The cycling network in Salzburg is well-developed, and we have the right maps and ideas.
