Shopping in Maxglan
Maxglan, Salzburg’s third-largest district, is just a few hundred metres from the Hotel zur Post. It is a short, pleasant walk to the district’s shopping street, which offers a wide variety of shops. Within a quarter of an hour, you can be strolling past small shops, cafés, restaurants and service businesses. If you would rather not walk, you can reach the heart of Maxglan by car or bus. You won’t find a large shopping centre like the famous Europark or the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet here – in Maxglan, you shop in the open air. Just like in the old days, there are attractive shop windows and independent shops. The small shops are lined up one after another, so there is always something new to discover.
Alongside boutiques with well-known fashion labels, you will also find selected second-hand goods. And of course there are the classic shops, such as shoe shops and opticians offering the latest trends. There are craft supplies and toy shops, as well as esoteric products, herbs and teas, flowers and florists. The range includes both local products and international goods. Several hairdressers, physiotherapy and wellness services and, not least, the green spaces of this old Salzburg district offer rest and relaxation. Maxglan’s restaurants are not limited to local dishes – from regional to international menus, there is a rich culinary choice. In summer, beer gardens invite you to sit outside and round off your shopping trip.
A real treat to round off a lovely day in Maxglan’s old quarter is a visit to the Stiegl-Brauwelt, which is something very special thanks to its combination of food, drink and culture. The Stiegl-Brauwelt is also just under a quarter of an hour’s walk from the Hotel zur Post.
