Salzburg Weekly Markets
Salzburg has long been one of Austria’s most popular holiday destinations. Its markets in particular have become a well-known attraction for visitors, inviting young and old alike to browse at leisure – everyone will find something here. The best known of Salzburg’s markets is the Grünmarkt, idyllically located in the heart of the Old Town, which gives it a special flair. It is especially busy towards the weekend, with every kind of fruit and vegetable you could want. You can shop here Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm and every Saturday from 6 am to 3 pm. Another popular market is the Schrannenmarkt in front of Mirabell Palace, which mainly sells fruit and vegetables, but also meat products and regional specialities. For keen shoppers, there are souvenirs as well as a few stalls selling braces and the like. The Schrannenmarkt is open every Thursday from 5 am to 1 pm.
Besides the two best-known markets, there are also smaller ones, such as the organic farmers’ market on Papagenoplatz, which stands out for its wide range of excellent organic produce from the region. You can shop to your heart’s content here every Friday from 8 am to 1 pm. We will be happy to tell you about Salzburg’s other markets at the hotel.
